This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and Gon's Balls will whisper 'First... comes... rock!' Hah! Made you stare at Naruto's Marshmallow! Pushing the logo off-center to drive TheOcean insane.

Any schools, non-profits, or anything hiring? And what does "overqualified" even mean? I mean I guess employers need to weed out the people who they think will be bored but still...

Aren't there also fancier benefits available in the UK? Housing and such?

Yeah, probably the bored thing, and probably pay too tbh. I won't put my current wage in when I apply either, [ because you can't exactly explain on the application that you get 1099'd, so you're not really making 15$ an hour ]
All school stuff I've seen is for teachers. I just applied at a hotel though for a night shift; that would be ideal tbh

A big ass spider seems to be making it's home in my room.

Probably as thick as my pinky is around and with it's legs splayed out it could cover my palm.

Yes, but you need to qualify for them. The only other one we get is child benefit which is given to almost everyone whether you work or not, and that's 20 a week or so.

The Job Centre just plain sucks, my experience with the Job Centre was basically "your CV is perfect, you're more than qualified for everything, I don't understand why you haven't got a job; we can't help you".

Benefits differ depending on our state of residence. In Michigan, you get unemployment benefits that equal about 80% of your original pay and every week you call an automated system or go online and you have to prove to the government that you have been applying for jobs. So it's not just a freeby (I just submitted my first job application yesterday so I haven't gotten any unemployment money yet) but 80% of my original pay is better than nothing, and better than working retail.

I think the US has this understanding that jobs are hard to come by and being unemployed has nothing to do with lack of skill, just a lack of jobs...

In today's good news, I've had a chest infection for the past 3-4 weeks! And now I have a week of antibiotics to try and clear it up.

Good grief

Take some probiotics while taking your antibiotics - this will, uh, keep you from feeling miserable. :)

As a follow up for those interested in a view of the UK benefits system today...

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ne...-34712102.html

And don't think this is a cherry picked extreme case, thousands of cases like this have been happening every year for a while now, even affecting two close friends of mine personally.

Frustrated. Can't convince my spouse to register democrat for the closed primary. They are staunchly independent because they feel the democratic party has become too centrist and are clearly corrupted by lobbyists.

As a staunch independent in a closed primary state I would recommend you not try to pressure them. Speaking for myself, I do not like not being allowed a voice in the primary process, but I would not ever want myself associated with one of those... organizations. Political parties serve only their own interests, and the notion of a two-party system is the largest problem with our political system.

Interesting point, several of the US founding fathers including James Madison may have intended the USA to remain a non-partisan democracy.

I hate the two party system as well, but at this poin i think the only way to get rid of it is from the inside.

The only way that would work through 'the inside' would be in supporting a candidate who came from the outside to totally that party.
